Creativity Tools Breakdown | Two Point Campus

Hello future Freshers!

Are you just as excited as we are for you to start creating your very own, incredible Campuses? Sure we've got a few weeks until the launch, but that doesn't mean you can't start planning your builds right!?

In the early stages of developing Two Point Campus, we knew we wanted to give players more control over how their Campus looks and feels. One of the things many of you found a bit restrictive in Two Point Hospital was the pre-defined buildings, the majority of people's hospitals looked quite similar and that's something we wanted to address in Campus.

We've put a lot of work into making sure Campus gives you the ability to be creative, think outside the box and ultimately, build a Campus that is completely unique to you. In order to do that, we've added a whole bunch of brand new creative tools so you can make the Campus of your dreams!

Buildings

For the first time in Two Point history, building placement is entirely in your hands, if you want it to be! Each level has plots of land that you can unlock in various different ways. When you unlock a plot, you can decide whether to buy it with pre-existing buildings or totally blank, so you can put your own stamp on it. If you decide to buy the plot with pre-existing buildings, you can still delete or edit them later too.

Placing buildings works in a similar way to building rooms. You'll select the building you want in your build menu, drag out the area and confirm - super simple! You can get super creative with this too, I quite enjoy putting outside areas like Cheeseball fields or a little food courtyard in the middle of my buildings like this:

But it's not just placing your own buildings! We wanted to make creativity as simple and non-disruptive as possible in Campus. Maybe you placed a building, kitted it out with rooms and items, but now you need space for another course. SIMPLE! You can edit your buildings and rooms without kicking people out, by simply adding an extra bit on. This is a massive improvement from Two Point Hospital, as you don't need to worry about disturbing your little people by changing the layout of your builds.

Outside Creativity

In yet another first for Two Point, the outside area of your Campus is yours to do with as you please! We had a lot of feedback from players on Two Point Hospital which showed people wanted to be able to customise their entire level, not just the inside of buildings. So with Campus, you'll be able to decorate the Campus grounds however you like.

We've added a huge range of items for you to customise your campus with, from trees, rocks and plants, to fountains, statues and food trucks! You can even change the colour of pretty much all the flora in the game, by clicking the paint brush icon and selecting the colour you like.

The most exciting thing here is that everyone's campuses and are going to look very different. We really can't wait to see your creativity shine in each of the different levels!

Plant forests, create romantic rose gardens, make a food hub full of delicious food for your students. It's up to you to decide how you want your campus to look and feel.

Landscaping

We've added lots of options for you to customise how your actual grounds look. You can use the brand new path tool to create intricate pavestone designs, or even change your campus grounds from luscious green grass to worn out dirt or cobble.  There are a couple of different modes for this tool, the default is Perimeter Mode where you can create simple rectangular paths like this:

It's really useful to quickly create simple pathways for your students, plus you can create cool designs using a number of different path styles like this:

The next mode is Line Mode. This one is really cool for creating more diagonal paths, and can be used in conjunction with the Perimeter Mode to make some really interesting shapes!

It's not just paths either! You can change your freshly cut lawn to dirt, rough grass or even small pebbles. These little details can really make a huge difference in how your campus looks, especially if you use the dirt around areas where you students are more likely to be walking, you'll notice your campus come to life using little tricks like this!

Procedural Hedges and Fences

Adding fences and hedges to the grounds of your campus can really help it stand out, and it's really easy to place them! Our procedural tool allows you to easily drag out a hedge or fence in different directions, so you can create private gardens, queues for food or even a hedge maze if you want to troll your students...

We quite like placing hedges around the walls of a building, it always makes the campus feel a little more alive! Likewise, you could use fences to create areas where students shouldn't go, like a small building site or staff area!

Photo Mode

So you've created an amazing looking campus, there are beautiful forests, courtyards and lots of happy students, what now? Well we've added a first iteration of Photo Mode for you, so you can turn all of the UI elements off, take a screenshot of your awesome creations and share them with us on social media or right here on the forums! This is only the beginning of Photo Mode, if you like the idea of it, we'll look to see what else we can add to it to make it even better for you.

We're really excited for you to get your hands on the creative tools in Two Point Campus! You've already shown how creative you can be with the more limited systems of Two Point Hospital, so imagine what you can create without limits!
